April 2008, following the publication by the Gazzetta Ufficiale No. 101 of Legislative Decree dated 9 April 2008, No. 81 "Implementation of Article 1 of the law dated 3 August 2007, No. 123, in matter of protection of health and safety in workplaces " the referenced Decree comes into force for the workplaces with video display terminals. The D.Lgs. 81/08 abrogated the referenced Legislative Decree, D.Lgs. 626/94. At the same time parts 2 and 3 of European EN 1335 standards have been published redefining requirements and test methods for checking the safety of office chairs, both parts overhauled. Part 1, size, delayed publication because not yet definitively overhauled.
The minimum conditions considered by any test Laboratory for the issue of conformity certificate to D.Lgs. 81/08 are:
- The meeting to the 1335 standards, in part 1, 2, 3 with 2000 revision even if available, for the parts 2-3, revision 2009;
- Height adjustment of the seat, backrest and lumbar support;
- Adjustment of the inclination of the backrest;
- Meeting at least the criteria for type "B" of EN 1335-1.
This certificate is not a product certification and is issued following tests carried out on samples supplied to Catas by the Company requesting approval, which is responsible for guaranteeing the conformity of the sample to the industrial production standards.
